Job Description: Preschool Teacher

Seeking Gifted Preschool Teachers

An exciting new philanthropic community-development project in southernmost South Carolina seeks imaginative teachers to help create a new high-quality preschool. (More information here)

Experience in early childhood education is desirable but not a prerequisite. We’re looking for gifted teachers with a drive to inculcate a love of school in children—many of them rural, low-income, minority, or ESL.

This will be a pathbreaking facility, with an extraordinary curriculum, outdoor environment, system of room rotations, specially designed building, home-visit protocol, and competitive teacher compensation.

Applicants with successful experience in the Cooperative Preschool model (www.preschools.coop) will be favored. All candidates must demonstrate ability and enthusiasm to implement the co-op educational ethos. This school will be structured to nurture and educate not only children but also their parents (a quality special to cooperatives).

We’re looking for original thinkers with a devotion to children, and the ability to communicate with, motivate, and inspire parents of all types and backgrounds. If you’re bilingual in Spanish, that’s a plus.

Starting salary begins at $40,000, plus health insurance, a retirement account, and other benefits. We also offer significant merit bonuses for classroom success. Candidates must live in or relocate to the beautiful region stretching from Beaufort, SC down to Savannah, GA.

This is a year-round position, with nine weeks of breaks built into the calendar. Start date June 20, 2022, with school beginning September 6, 2022.
