Our Founder

Dave Proctor is on a mission to create a level playing field for kids and families who have the odds stacked against them.

Growing up in a home where he experienced the shame and challenges of extreme financial difficulty, substance abuse, household instability, and the imprisonment of his father, Dave has personal insight into the struggles and stresses faced by many kids.

Blessed by a loving mother, the caring parent of a good friend, a relentless work ethic, and a heaping portion of good luck, Dave has achieved many of the factors used today to measure success. He is a loving husband and father, a partner in a successful business, and is now at a place in life where his primary focus is using his time, experience and resources to give back and help others.

As the first college graduate in his family, Dave believes strongly that access to a good education played no small part in his good fortune. And so, Dave has prioritized using his resources to provide children with a solid foundation of reading, writing and mathematics — so that they can make their own luck in a challenging world.

He is committed to creating an equal starting line so that each person is given the opportunity to achieve their own full potential — as they define it. And he works to make it possible for families and communities to help their children succeed in life.

To address the challenges that he sees as most pressing, Dave has assembled a growing team with skills that range from education to epidemiology. Their work stretches from breakthrough scientific research, to increasing education and awareness, to building skate parks in neglected neighborhoods.

This team is guided by a mission statement set forth by Dave Proctor:

We serve our fellow human beings as equals.

Our mission is to help people live up to their true potential by creating an equitable starting line.

We seek to help those who have been disenfranchised, passed by, underserved, and prevented for reasons not of their own doing from living their best lives.

We focus on children and the issues that affect them most, aiming to change the trajectory of generations to come.
